Yes that is correct….
The film crew for the TV show, A League of Their Own starring Jamie Redknapp and Micah Richards chartered one of our catamarans for filming their challenges in making their new programme: Road Trip in Asia.
After checking out the idyllic locations for filming, the production team decided on Ao Yoa. This location is just a short distance from Boat Lagoon, Phuket. We accompanied some of the film crew for a recce, a couple of days prior to the trip to ensure kit was the correct location. As the beach access is restricted by tides, we needed to be there at high tide to go ashore.
Along with our skipper, Morgan, we left the previous afternoon to be sure we were ready early morning. We anchored for the night and used the dinghy to go ashore for supper. We found a lovely restaurant serving delicious food at great prices. After our meal we headed back to the yacht and enjoyed the amazing light display from the shrimp fishermen.
Early morning, as planned, the whole crew boarded armed with cameras, drones and safety equipment. Jamie was quick to take the helm whilst Micah used his power to hoist the mainsail…. several times so they could get the best shots, not something the average person would be able to do!
After cruising around for a couple of hours, enjoying mock-tails, fresh coconut juice and local fruits they spotted their mates, Emily Attack and Joel. They were on the beach playing on quad bikes. Nothing to be done other than to dive off the back of the yacht and swim ashore to join them.
We caught up with them again later trialling E-foils, super fun and easy if you have good balance!!! No matter…. the water is warm making Phuket a great place to practise this sport.
What a fun day. We are very much looking forward to seeing the results on TV!
