Thanks to Lagoon for a fun weekend on beautiful yachts. Three days of sailing with some strong winds, a bit of rain (it is rainy season) and sunshine!!
Our home for the trip was Lagoon 42 – Marilyn, a 4 cabin catamaran (all with ensuite facilities) a spacious cockpit, well equipped galley and heaps of deck space & deck cushions to chill out on.
The event started in Ao Po Marina where we boarded 10 cats from the lovely Lagoon 38 up to the very luxurious 67! After stowing our luggage on Marilyn we joined fellow sailors on the Lagoon 52, a fully crewed yacht. Lunch was provided on board and we had a fantastic sail with some strong winds for most of the morning stopping early afternoon at Koi Roi to swim and try out the various water toys: SUP, E-Foils, Sea-bobs, kayaks, floating mats and even a banana.
Late afternoon we set off to Koh Yao Noi and that beautiful strip of white sand. With the yachts safely on anchor we enjoyed a few sundowners on board watching a fabulous sunset. Our skipper took us across to the beach by dinghy, it was low tide but so well planned we stepped out into water only ankle deep – local knowledge is amazing. The beach BBQ was a great way for all the guests to meet and chat about the days events.
Saturday morning the weather started off a little gloomy, no problem we had a skipper and plenty of space in lagoon 42 cockpit under cover so headed off to Ko Hong Island where we took a mooring. For those feeling really adventurous a short dinghy trip took you to the large hong on the northern shore with sheer limestone cliffs, a great photo opportunity.
After lunch we continued our sail over to Krabi province rafting together in the estuary close to Ao Thalane Pier, a safe anchorage. A chill out afternoon or for those wanting to explore a good kayaking trip up the estuary into the mangroves. The evening party held at Melina’s Villas boutique resort on Thalane beach followed with cocktails, delicious Thai food, a fire show and dancing on the beach. A perfect fun filled Saturday night!!!
